Thank goodness for cell phones with cameras. What did we ever do before we had them? These were taken while I was on Highway 290E coming into town when a “norther” was coming in and causing unusual rippling clouds.

Part of my payment for the Shands Hospital gig in Gainesville, FL was a trip to the Butterfly Rainforest museum at the University of Florida. It was a truly magical experience. They have double doors with blowing air between them on both the entrance and the exit, so the butterflies don't leave, and they ask you to take your camera out before you go in, because butterflies have been known to hitchhike in backpacks and handbags. Here's some of the butterflies I saw -- the ones I could get to pose.

Many wonderful women poets, musicians and film-makers gathered for the Austin Women's Film, Music and Literary Festival in May 2008. I had a wonderful time -- and KXAN just happened to show up while I was onstage. Gotta love'em!

Mamapalooza, initiated by Joy Rose of New York City, besides being a series of concerts across the country in May, the month of Mothers' Day, is also The Motherhood Foundation, The Mom Egg Literary Publication and a host of other entities. I undertook to present a Mamapalooza concert in Austin. We presented many different kinds of performers and artisans, all of whom are moms -- in an effort to empower other women to continue making their art while raising their families.

I discovered these at the Coffeyville Art Museum. The Hoffman Challenge: Contestants are given a square of fabric that must appear in their quilt. They may use it any way they choose, but it must show up at least once in the quilt.

Saturday morning, we got up, checked out of our log cabin in Dyserth, had breakfast with Lawrence and Kate (and their grandson), drove to Holyhead on the northwest coast, and onto a ferryboat headed for Ireland. Yippee!

We landed in Manchester, England on Saturday, June 9th, 2007 after 7 hours in the air. It was 10 a.m. We rented a car, and drove (on the left side of the road. Andy drove....thank goodness. I get confused easily enough as it is!)

Laura McLean invited me to play at the Airlie Gardens Festival in Wilmington, N.C. and I learned that North Carolina is very beautiful in the spring. Also visited the Folk Art Center in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, N.C.

This is a compilation of photos we took over 3 trips to the Big Island. We were based in Kona (world-famous coffees) on the western end, but the island is small enough that a trip to Hilo on the other side, around the perimeter, takes only a few hours.....or most of the day if you stop to see the amazing stuff in between.

More pictures from the Big Island. The last bits from The Refuge and a visit to the volcano, which is Mauna Loa and is still active. The goddess, Pele, requires that you leave all of Hawaii in Hawaii, and there are severe consequences for taking even one bit of lava home with you. Some have tried. One person ended up mailing her "souvenirs" back, because they caused her so much trouble.

This album includes a trip to an amazing bit of coastline between Kona and Hilo on the north coast called Laupahoehoe Point Park along the Mamalahoa Highway. It is the place where, in 1946, the tsunami struck and took many people, much like the tsunami in Indonesia.

My father’s family held their first-ever-in-100 years family reunion, and we used it as an excuse to cross the midwest, head for the northeast, playing all the way.

After the reunion, we went on up into Pennsylvania, Washington and Virginia, New Jersey, New York, and then sprinted for home through Tennessee.

Just below Cloudcroft, across from the White Sands, John and Sky built their home and inherited a house concert series from its former host. These gracious folks welcomed me into their home, provided sound and a stage. A good time was had.

Every spring, the city of Austin throws a huge party/conference known as SXSW. It has gotten so large now that there are spin-off and rogue showcases all over town. S X Shoal Creek at the Shoal Creek Saloon invited me to play in 2002.

I drove 2 days, 12 hours each to get to this festival in Maryland, as it was the very first one, and I was a finalist in the song contest. (I won third prize) I arrived 10 minutes before my set, had a great time, met some wonderful songwriters.
